Real Sociedad’s Spain midfielder Miguel Merino will choose between Barcelona and Arsenal if he decides to leave this summer.
Diario Sport reported on Thursday that Real Sociedad midfielder Miguel Merino will choose between Barcelona or Arsenal. If he decides to leave the Basque Country this summer UFABET
Merino’s contract with Real Sociedad runs until the summer of 2025 and the 27-year-old midfielder is likely to leave La Real after Euro 2024. With Barcelona, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid all linked with a move away.
Atletico Madrid have reportedly been in talks with Merino’s representatives for several weeks but have not made the progress they hoped for. With Diario Sport reporting the 27-year-old is more interested in a move to either Barcelona or Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal than Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona will have to make a decision on whether they want to sign Merino, with the Blaugrana weighing up options such as Amadou Onana and Joshua Kimmik. But the latter are more expensive, with the Catalan giants also targeting Nico Williams this summer.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have a financial advantage. As Barcelona can only offer around €20-25m. But the Gunners can meet Real Sociedad’s demands more than that. Including paying the Catalan giants a higher wage bill.
